FULL DAY HISTORICAL LUANG PRABANG HERITAGE & SLOW BOAT TRIP TO PAK OU CAVES — TOUR CODE: F21
ONE DAY PRIVATE TOUR TO VISIT THE MAIN HIGHLIGHTS OF LUANG PRABANG
Pick up from your accommodation at about 8:30 am, Start your trip with a visit to the city’s highlights including Royal Palace Museum, Wat Sene, Wat Xiengthong.
We then embark a boat trip on the Mekong River. We enjoy a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as the mysterious nature on the way.
One and half hours trip take us o Manifa Elephant Camp and we enjoy a beautiful buffet style lunch at the restaurant – overlooking the Mekong river. (The popular 1 hour elephant experience “MEANINGFUL ELEPHANT INTERACTIONS PROGRAM” is optionally available.)
After lunch break, we embark again a boat trip on the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves. Pak Ou Caves are two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by devoted pilgrims. We stay 40 min at caves and then start a boat trip back to Luang Prabang. On the way, we visit Ban Moung Koe village which is famous for handcraft products like textile and whisky. We arrive at Luang Prabang boat pier and send back to your accommodation by vehicle (4 to 5 PM)
LUANG PRABANG HERITAGE CITY
Luang Prabang, the ancient capital of Luang Prabang Province in northern Laos, lies in a valley at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers. Since the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) elected to inscribe the Town of Luang Prabang on the World Heritage List in 1995, The unique fusion of the traditional architectural and urban structures and those of the European colonial styles has fascinated tourists from all over the world and recognized as a world famous tourist destination.
THE FAMOUS HOLY SITES PAK OU CAVES
The boat trip takes us north to the famous Pak Ou Cave, well known as Tham Ting or Ting Cave, located on the riverbank, about 25km from Luang Prabang. The cave is very beautiful and filled with thousands of Buddha images and has long served as a pilgrimage site for all kinds of people, including members of the former royal family.

The heritage city Luang Prabang is built on the confluence of the Mekong and the Nam Khan rivers. The Mekong river has been the major highways for people and goods for centuries and the boat transportation is still indispensable for daily life even today. Taking a boat trip is probably one of the most rewarding ways to discover the local life along the rivers.
